Mmmmm - lovely candy!

I've been trawling around Blogger to find who is giving away blog candy so I'm in the process of updating the list on the right bar. There are some fab giveaways and they are easy to enter. Most ask for a comment and/or to link to a blog and/or become a follower so to be in with a chance of winning, just take a look at the list and click on the links. Do let me know if you win!

Next up is a black and white wedding card made from the same paper pack. I stamped a Papermania image and greeting in black and used clear embossing powder. I mounted both on to black card. I added background paper, some ribbon & brads. Lovely finish!

New cards

As I promised earlier, I've updated my slide show with some new cards from recent events.

First up is a "spring" card made from square card and using Clare's "the big one" papers. The flowers were from the same paper, mounted on to card then cut out and mounted.

My final card for today is a never ending card. This is a fabulous card that has the potential to drive people nuts! It just goes on and on as you fold it open again and again. It looks really hard to make but is really easy. All you need is two pieces of 6" x 6" card. Cut each piece in half giving you 4 pieces of 3" x 6". Score a central line on each piece vertically and then horizontally from both ends of each piece at 1.5". Lay two pieces together with the join vertical. The other two pieces lay on top with the join horizontal. Glue the 4 corners. Job done.
Two things to remember: the measurements and the gluing of the corners must be accurate. Finally, if your card "catches" as you open it, find where it catches and simply shave a bit off.

If you make one yourself, please do leave a mssg with a link or your blog addy so I can go take a look!

Been busy....

I've been bust since last Thursday prepping the workshop I did on Friday night, then the demo on Saturday, then the sunday school craft yesterday.

The workshop was great fun with many newbies there. The end result of spring cards was fabulous - so many designs and ideas. The puddings were pretty yummy too!

The demo at Reams on Saturday was busy but a bit quieter than normal. Where were you all?? Probably sunning yourselves in the lovely weather we enjoyed.

I absolutely promise to upload some pictures on new cards tonight and may be even a project for you to have a go at.

Off to to the fun factory for the day..... have a good day whatever you're doing.

A tale of two mums

With Mothers Day fast approaching I decided to make my mum and my mother in law a mini photo album using the envelope technique described in an earlier post. The pics above show the front covers. Inside are 10 pictures of various members of our family, from youngest to oldest. I hope they will both use them as "brag" books to show their friends.

I also made them each a handbag card and a swing card:

Handy pocket book

This project is very popular at demo's and it's really easy to make. All you need is envelopes. Fold each envelope in half then add DS tape down the centre of the flap. You can use as many envelopes as you like to create the pocket book. Using one envelope makes it ideal for sending money or a packet of seeds for example. Using more means you can pop a photo into each pocket creating a great handbag size photo album.

If you use more than one envelope simply glue them together, back to back as you can see in the photo. Once you have as many envelopes as you want, cut a front and back cover from sturdy card slightly bigger than the envelopes - I usually use box packaging from a previously enjoyed stash delivery! Cover in the paper of your choice and glue to the front and back envelope. You can decorate the front cover.

I've got 2 of these in my demo kit. One carries ATCs to swap and the other carries the sizings for those projects I don't make often and need instructions for, such as waterfall cards. I love making waterfall cards but can rarely remember the measurements off the top of my head.

If you make one of these, please post a pic to your Docrafts gallery or post a link to your blog so I can see what you've created. I love to see other people's work.

I've got some yummy stash ready for blog candy which I'll post sometime this week week so please come back before Friday to see what I prepared for you!

Happy crafting!

Demo dates!

My next demo is 4th April @ Reams in Derby all day, 10 - 4. I'm looking forward to seeing all you Reams customers again! It's free and open to anyone so do come along and learn a new technique or fold.

I'm doing a workshop on Friday, 3rd April at a local Church. I think we're going to do the easiest Spring card design I know, made from a square card. It's free and it's ladies only so you'll need to contact me if you want to come. Oh, did I mention it's pudding night??? Yes, free puddings that cost nothing because they are free and don't cost you anything so you don't need to bring any money because they're free.

Mum's birthday card

This is the card I made tonight for my mum's birthday this weekend. All the papers come from the Papermania "cat" collection, the flowers are a Papermania acrylic stamp stamped on green paper in black ink & embossed with holographic powder and cut out. Each of the mini books opens up to reveal another stamped image: 1 is squeak the other is onion. The ribbon is from the Papermnia card packs.

Meet Squeak....

Meet Squeak one of the new characters in the Daisy & Dandelion range from DoCrafts. The paper is from D&D picnic patch paper pack & the flower stamp is from the same acrylic pack as Squeak. I used the masking technique to get the cake in front of the bear.

Revamped. Redesigned, Reborn!

So I've given my blog a fresh new look! I hope you like it. If you do, please leave a comment!

I had a really great demonstration @ Gadsbys in Leicester last weekend. There were loads of crafters and I'm afraid there were several sell outs. If you were one of the many who came along, thanks, it was lovely to see you. If you came along and the product you wanted was sold out, sorry. Alison is getting more stock in as I type!.
